Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Sunday, November 8, 2009

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 comes out this Tuesday Nov 10th. The series which in the past has allowed gamers to act as first person shooters in combat situations such as World War II has always garnered a bit of controversey for its raw depiction of combat in the frontlines.

This latest installment, however, has taken things to another level as players can now play the role of an airport terrorist in one of the game's plot lines. Infinity Ward, the company behind the game's release says that this scenario is optional and that the overall realism behind these types of plot lines is meant to expose people to the atrocities of war. I'll never be the one to pass up a good game, but sometimes entertainment needs its limits. Regardless, check out the trailer and let me know your opinions.

*sigh* I'm not one to believe that video games necessarily encourage violence, but what if it did...? Logically, the opposite must be true then, too, right? Games of peace and cooperation would encourage the same??? In other words, when does the Gandhi and MLK Save the World game come out?
